A few months back I changed my workout schedule on the advice of a trainer. I wasn’t progressing on several WOD’s so I felt I needed a change. He suggested that my lack of progress was due to over training. At the time I was working out six days a week and was feeling horrible.

The last few months or so have been a reminder that over training is a very real thing. I guess I bit off more than I could chew the past several months. Sure I was showing lots of progress at first, but then overnight, everything came to a crashing halt.
In hindsight what I was doing, is what we all do, we push ourselves harder and harder trying to attain our goals. In my case I kept upping the training ante, figuring I could do just a bit more, but never realizing that eventually something had to give.

If you’ve never done CrossFit before or if you’re wondering what to expect on your first visit to an affiliate, I will help shed a little light.
A couple of weeks ago I visited CrossFit Bako to do an interview with the owners and to experience my first ever affiliate WOD.
I have been doing CrossFit for a while now, but it is usually a solo venture. I’m not in fantastic shape, but I’m not a couch potato either. I went into my first ever affiliate WOD with one half feeling confident and the other half feeling scared.

Tonight I attempted to do a difficult, yet not impossible workout. I made it through two rounds of five and almost spilled my guts on the ground. The culprit as usual was thinking that I could eat anything I wanted (during the Thanksgiving holiday) and perform well in the gym.
