UPDATE! 2/19/12. Final Results Near Bottom of the page.

Whenever I cover an event, regardless of what it is, I never really know what to expect until I get there. The CrossFit FTF Fresno/Clovis 3rd Annual Affiliate Fitness Challenge was no exception. My original intent was to shoot some photos, take down some details and head back to the hotel a few hours later and relax at the pool. That did not happen, because the event was much larger than I expected. In fact, I was pretty shocked at the number of athletes and spectators in attendance. As I stood there taking it all in, I had to devise a new plan for this article.

I knew that there was no way I could cover every WOD at each station, which meant that there was no way to accurately write a sports article with a play by play. So I opted to tell the story with photos. I made up my mind early to shoot as many as photos as possible, showing the diversity of the field and talent at this obviously popular event.

1. The event Benefited the Children's Hospital of Central California.

2. One of the male athletes at the competition.

3. The women's competition was full of fierce competitors.

Sponsors for the Event that I know of as of this writing are:

Wod-Club, Progenex, Sierra Running Company, Verizon Wireless, WODshirts.com

Life as Rx, Blonyx, Wodclub, Fresh n Easy Markets, Strength Wraps, SMR

Maverick Athletic Company

Here are just a few more of the photos from the day, I shot over 1700 and was left with around 450 usable photos, which I loaded into the gallery below.

I did my best to cover as much of each WOD as possible, trying to catch each athlete during at least one portion of their WOD, but I have no idea if I did. To be able to accomplish this I stayed stationary during most of the day and only traveled around when I felt that I had photographed most of the athletes in that area. This meant that I was not able to cover most of the outdoor portions of each WOD, other than running.

With me being the only one shooting that day I could only cover so much, hope you enjoy, and hope that if I missed any athletes, they understand.

UPDATE! I Just found out the official standings via Facebook this morning and here they are.
