Take one part bio-mechanics expert, one part coach, add in a dash of scientist, a pinch of humor, a dab of perfectionist and nearly twenty years of practical experience in the sport of weightlifting (both as a competitor on the national stage and as a coach to some of the country’s top athletes) and you have Sean Waxman, owner of Waxman’s gym

Ok so the other day I finally tried another packet of Progenex that had been sitting in the cupboard. It’s been there, because quite honestly, I’ve never been a fan of vanilla anything when it comes to supplements.

Well the Progenex stuff was no exception. It had a slight medicine or chemical taste to it, which I didn’t like.

I only used water with all the APS stuff I tried, as well as the Progenex Belgian Chocolate Recovey (Which was great, see article). I figured plain water was the ultimate equalizer and something all of us have at our disposal, during or after a workout.

The other day I finally got my free samples of Progenex. Three weeks prior I went to their website, signed up for free samples and waited patiently until they arrived. Instead of using them right away I decided to wait until a really tough workout. I put them in the cupboard and somehow forgot about them.

Tonight I knew I had a tough workout, so I went to grab some APS and saw the samples. I wasn’t making a decision one over the other, it was just that I have an open canister of APS and hate to open up to much stuff and stand the chance of it going bad if I don’t use it right away.

Ok so last week I got the shipment of APS recovery that I talked about in this previous article. When I opened the box I was surprised to see all the goodies in the box. The good folks at APS had sent along several free samples with our first order. The extras included four sample packs of recovery; flavors Pineapple Orange, Fruit Punch and a bottle of Complete Omega Three.

Since it was a rest day I waited until my next workout to open one of the large containers of our Lemonade Recovery and was pretty floored by what I saw. The containers, as large they are, were only half filled with product as shown in the photo below. Now I know that they say that your getting so many ounces (25 oz) of the product, but that really never computes in a customers mind. Instead they show this big container on their website and you in your mind you think your getting that much, but your not. Instead it looks to be a sales pitch to make you think your getting more that you are. I’d bet that the contents of both containers would have fit in one, but I guess that’s marketing.

The Good:

1. Clean rooms
2. Nice desk staff
3. Cool amenities like an equestrian center, bowling alley and full theater and pool. The pool was nice just a bit over crowded, I'd hate to see it on a weekend.
4. Coupon book that gave away two free lunch buffets. This made a typical Vegas buffet great.

The Bad:

1.Valet and Bell service are horrible; expect long waits even mid week.
2. Don't plan on using the Internet unless you want to pay big time.

3. Working out is a no go to unless you want to spend money for their fitness center.
4. Don't plan on getting room service unless you want to finance your meal, and don't plan on bringing food to your room because the only place that allows it is the deli.

The Ugly:

1. If your into fitness and need to get in a workout either bust out your credit card or be prepared to get fit in your room. Pay for fitness has become the standard in Vegas but it's still bull. Heck even the chain hotels we stayed at in Montana had a free fitness center.
2. The bell service was the worst I've ever experienced, except years ago when the Venetian first opened and they were having union issues or something like that.
