After years of banishment supplements are now welcome in my home thanks All Pro Science.

During the games I picked up a free shaker and a couple samples from All Pro Science and put them in the cupboard to collect dust. Let me say that in the past I have never been a big proponent of supplements. Years ago I tried it all, from heavy weight gainers, to protein this and that and all I got was deeper in debt. After a year or so of dropping a bunch of money and never seeing the results as promised, I moved on, and gave up on supplements altogether. My lesson back then taught me that proper nutrition was far more beneficial that any off the shelf product could ever be.

Years later I still believe in proper nutrition, but also think that supplements have their place when used properly and I’ll tell you what changed my mind. Recently after two very tough workouts I gave the All Pro Science recovery stuff a try and liked it, basically because it delivered on its promise and I didn’t have to gag to drink it. I can’t really compare it to ProGenex because I haven’t tried their products yet, but the APS stuff so far (recovery product) is great.

The samples that I liked were the Lemonade flavor packets, which tasted similar to Gatorade Lemon Lime, but not as sweet. I chose to drink the recovery during lap swims on two different occasions. During my breaks I drank it instead of plain water and felt energized during the entire workout. I didn’t feel the fatigue I normally feel during the swim workouts. I am not saying that I performed substantially better or that somehow I was transformed into a super athlete, just that I found it easier to complete my workout and with more energy, if that makes sense.

I even finished a mile run after laps on the second day and felt terrific afterward (and I hate running). I really have no technical data on the drink, or scientific proof that it worked, but it seemed to do the job, which is much better than my previous experience with supplements.

So I bought some, or should I say Mayra did!

Mayra ordered me a couple bottles of the stuff last night and I can’t wait to get it. She stuck with the flavor that I liked (Lemonade) and decided not chance it, because I was not a fan of the Grass Fed Chocolate Whey flavor sample I got at the games. It might taste better with juice or something other than water but it’s not my cup of tea.

I really wish I could compare it to ProGenex, but since I ain’t made of money that will have to wait. If the All Pro Science is working I might as well stick with it for the time being, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
